Serbia’s cuisine and culture have been marked by all the empires that have come and gone over this ancient land. As a result, you’ll find that Serbian cuisine is a delicious fusion of Turkish, Austro-Hungarian, and Mediterranean cuisines.
With their unique taste and affordable prices, Belgrade restaurants will seduce you with their lively spirit and unique taste.
Here are some of our top choices:
Beton Hala

Beton Hala is located in 2-4 “Karadjordjeva” Street, in Savamala, at the Sava riverfront. It represents a must-visit “hotspot” in Belgrade and contains a few trendy restaurants:
1. Comunale
If you’re interested in high-quality Italian specialties, this is a place for you. The aesthetics are clean and monochromatic, as is the architecture of the space itself. Large spaces, monolithic structures, in line with the way things seem to be done here, with the central bar in the middle are all very Communale.

2. Cantina de Frida
Cantina de Frida is a well-populated place both in the daytime and in the evening when it operates as a lounge as well. The concept of the restaurant is inspired by the life and work of famous artist Frida Kahlo. The authentic interior is the work of Ronald van Bersselaar, the Dutch interior designer who is behind all the famous Jamie Oliver’s restaurants. The interesting interior is complete with a wide range of dishes from Mexico, Spain, and Argentina. The small plates (tapas) and large plates are offered with lavish servings perfect to share with your significant others.

3. Toro Latin Gastrobar
A renowned chef and owner of a restaurant chain in world capitals, Richard Sandoval set up this restaurant in Belgrade with the concept of “small plates” based on Latin American tastes. Sandoval already has a chain of 26 restaurants with this concept, in Denver, Las Vegas, New York, Santa Monica, Washington, Mexico, Dubai, and Qatar. The food is fresh and mouth-watering and the prices are not exorbitant. The choice of music is quite good also and during the evenings DJs ‘show what they are made of’. So, we can say without fear of contradiction that this restaurant is urban, chic, and hip and definitely a place well worth visiting.

4. Sakura
This is a lounge and a restaurant offering Asian cuisine and a variety of cocktails. It is well worth noting that the food is exquisite; for instance, they offer very good sushi. Sakura is also a nice place for vegetarians and seafood lovers.
This restaurant takes pride in its elongated bar, very pleasant kitsch-free interior, and elaborate detail. If you feel like having dinner, you’ll be well advised to make a reservation and enjoy a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

6. Lafayette
Apart from the amazing food this restaurant offers, it is the most popular spot when it comes to Beton Hala nightlife.
Its unique concept and example of a real-world cabaret in the heart of Belgrade is something definitely worth visiting.
Lafayette is a conscious Serbian cabaret, the definition of a cabaret is theater-like performances that take place in a club or restaurant while guests enjoy dinner.
The performances contain musical, acting, dancing points performed by young talented performers.

Franš
This space under the causeway was used as a broom cupboard where the city planned for a sort of a “snack bar” to be opened. The architect who proposed that idea couldn’t have even imagined that one family would dare to open a restaurant, and, later, one of the most loved Belgrade gardens, in such an unfavorable spot between the tram tracks, highway, and railway.
Between the concrete and traffic, you enter a gastronomic oasis filled with music and the trickling of the fountain.
In 38 years of existence, Franš has made its way to becoming one of Belgrade’s most prestigious restaurants. With a welcoming staff, passionate chefs, and the most famous garden in Belgrade, Franš is perfect for both lunches and dinners with family or business partners.

Bela Reka
One of Belgrade’s best new restaurants, Bela Reka is modern and sophisticated, but fiercely dedicated to the traditional craft of Serbian cuisine, and is well worth a trek to Novi Beograd, 5.5km west of Brankov Most. Gorgeously presented, meat-leaning dishes are some of Belgrade’s best: perfectly spiced, Pirot-style uštipci (meatballs), walnut-and-hazelnut-crusted monastery chicken, and homolje (sausage stuffed with cheese) are outstanding.

Skadarlija street
There is no better place than Skadarlija where you can eat a traditional Serbian dinner and enjoy a traditional Serbian drink – brandy.
